Since 1989, Christian McBride has been widely recognized as one of the most important and original American musicians in jazz. A Grammy Award winning virtuoso of the bass, he is recognized also as an accomplished composer and arranger. McBride has been featured on more than 200 recordings, backing up an impressive array of artists from McCoy Tyner and Sting to Kathleen Battle and Diana Krall. McBride’s Quintet is comprised of some of the very finest musicians on the scene today, pianist Peter Martin, saxophonist Steve Wilson, drummer Carl Allen, and vibraphonist Warren Wolf (who backed up singer Rachael Price at the Folly in 2008 working as her pianist).
The Folly Jazz Series is made possible through generous support from the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency, and the Arts KC Fund, a community-supported funding program administered by The Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City.
